Marans
Marans are birds originated in France, and known widely for the dark chocolate colored eggs they lay. Marans that follow the french standard have feathered legs. All marans, to qualify as a marans, need to lay eggs that are a 4 or darker on the marans egg scale. Currently, we breed and raise purebred flocks of black copper marans, wheaten marans, blue marans, and blue birchen marans (although they are still a work in progress). Marans are always referred to as "marans" with an s on the end, even in the singular form. Marans eggs are also notoriosly hard to hatch, which is why we have a page dedicated to "the marans egg".
NONE of our marans are from hatchery stock! We do our best to source out high quality breeders and include their bloodlines in our breeding flocks.
