Wheaten & Blue Wheaten Ameraucana - Mill Bay, BC - NO LONGER BREEDING THIS VARIETY
Ameraucana egg bottom left next to marans and white egg
Unfortunately for 2019 and beyond we are NOT breeding wheaten or blue wheaten ameraucana. Continue reading for the varieties we ARE still working with. We are pleased to have a lovely, improved flock of wheaten/blue wheaten ameraucana's. They are purebred ameraucana's with blue legs and beards, and come in blue wheaten, wheaten or blue splash wheaten. For more information on how the colors work, please see our page on "breeding blue poultry", and keep in mind they have a wheaten base.
They are beautiful and reliable layers of beautiful blue eggs! This variety of ameraucana seems to be the most tame out of any we have had, and come running to see you and will jump up on your arm. They are not as large as our other varieties of poultry, but if you have a smaller family the extra roosters are still suitable for a meal as they often weigh in at around 4lbs dressed. Our ameraucana's originated at Greendale Heritage Farm, however we brought in new blood from John Blehm and Hidden River Ranch to work with in our breeding pen for 2013. In 2016 we purchased 3 show quality males and had them shipped to us from Ontario from Kathy Bauman. We love these ameraucana's, they are very pretty, inquisitive, friendly and their sky blue eggs are a beautiful addition to any dozen eggs!

Lavender & Split to Lavender Ameraucana - Sherwood Park, AB
In early 2016, we were able to import a gorgeous flock of Lavender and split-to-Lavender ameraucana. Our breeding pen has now been narrowed down to just a couple lovely, full bodied black ameraucana (split to lavender - meaning they will produce both black chicks carrying the lavender gene and also lavender) as well as some lovely, typey lavender hens who are paired with a few stunning cockerels. These beautiful birds have a rich, deep lavender colour and have been phenomenal layers of large eggs. In 2018, we have also added in a new line of imported lavenders via Breezy Bird Farms. See our "Sales" page for pricing.
Mottled Ameraucana - Sherwood Park, AB
This beautiful flock came to us from Phoenix Farms Heritage Breed Chickens, and we are very blessed to be working with the birds. The flock consists of mottled & black hens carrying the mottled gene, under mottled cockerels. They are proving to be good layers of beautiful blue eggs. For 2019 our focus will shift to a blue mottled project, so you can expect to hatch chicks from our eggs that are split to mottled, mottled and possibly solid (their leg colour as older juveniles will tell you who is who). We are aiming to improve size and diversify genetically by bringing together the blue/black/splash flock from TripleJFarms with the Mottled from both Phoenix Farms and Ewesask Heritage Chickens. See our "Sales" page for pricing.
