Silverudds Blue Isbar
We recently purchased an imported quad of Silverudds Blue Isbar, a splash cock bird, 2 splash hens and 1 black hen. While they are certainly more flighty in nature (especially with their change in environment and the move to our farm), they are quite phenomenal birds. They are smaller statured, about 4lb hens and 5-6lb roosters and excellent foragers. In comparison to all of our other breeds, we feed them about 1/2 as often, and they lay lovely large eggs in varying shades of green. They have also proved to be quite hardy, living in a tractor at our Alberta farm with only straw bales as insulation. They have had absolutely no issues with this, not even a touch of frost bite! Due to their endearing qualities we have decided to add in a second imported line known for more moss coloured eggs. We are looking forward to hatching lots of eggs from them this spring! Eggs from them will be WEATHER PERMITTING until late spring/early summer, due to their living in a tractor and the inclination for eggs to get chilled.
